Why so few people see your Facebook Page posts, and what still works
For owners whose Page posts get only a few likes
The short answer
A post on a Facebook Page (the business page, not a personal profile) reaches only some of its followers, because Facebook ranks each person’s Feed by what it predicts they will stop for. In Meta’s figures for the United States from April to June 2026, posts from followed Pages and public profiles were about one in seven Feed views. What still reaches people is your own photos and short videos of the work, your Page taking part in local groups, and quick replies to comments and messages.

Why your Facebook Page reach is so low
Say you run a salon in Nassau. You post your price list, a flyer for a holiday special, and now and then a link to your booking webpage. Each post gets a handful of likes, mostly from the same regulars. A friend tells you Facebook hides business posts unless you pay.
Meta, the company that owns Facebook, publishes how its Feed works. Facebook builds a separate Feed for each person. It gathers posts from that person’s friends, the Pages they follow and the groups they joined. Then it predicts how likely they are to stop, comment, share or spend time on each post, and puts the likeliest first. Meta also says a person is less likely to see several posts from the same Page in a row.
So each of your posts competes with everything else in each follower’s Feed, one person at a time. Meta publishes no reach rate for Pages. Any reach percentage for Pages you read online is someone’s estimate.
What Meta does publish is where the views in the Feed come from. Its report for April to June 2026 covers people in the United States.
Where Facebook Feed views came from, United States, April to June 2026
| Where the post came from | Share of Feed views |
|---|---|
| Recommended by Facebook, from accounts the person does not follow | 36.6% |
| Friends | 20.2% |
| Pages and public profiles the person follows | 14.8% |
| Groups the person joined | 14.6% |
| Other, such as Events | 13.8% |

Posts from Pages and public profiles people follow were about one in seven Feed views. A public profile is one anyone can follow, such as a creator’s. Recommendations from accounts people do not follow were more than a third, the largest share of all. Meta publishes no such figures for The Bahamas, so read the US split as a guide to how the Feed is built.
If you teach this in a class, the two sources to show are Meta’s Feed ranking webpage and its Widely Viewed Content Report. Both are in the source list below.
What Facebook shows people in the Feed now
In Meta’s US figures, recommendations fill more of the Feed than every Facebook Page a person follows put together. They are posts from accounts the person is not connected to, which Facebook predicts they will be interested in. Your Page’s posts can be recommended to people who have never followed you.
Meta has said what kind of post it wants to recommend. In March 2026 it said it prioritises original content in Feed and Reels and reduces the reach of unoriginal content. Content “filmed or produced directly by” the owner of a Page counts as original. Re-uploading a post the Page had no role in making counts as unoriginal and is pushed down. So does a copy changed only by a border, a caption or a speed change. Meta also says views and time spent on original reels about doubled in the second half of 2025, compared with the same months of 2024.
Video matters here as well. Meta says every new video posted to Facebook, on Pages as well as personal profiles, is now shared as a reel, Facebook’s name for its video posts, with no limit on length. The change began in June 2025.
For a salon, a phone clip of a finished style, filmed in your own chair, is the kind of post Meta says it favours. A flyer passed on from a supplier or another Page, or a clip saved from someone else’s account, is the kind it pushes down.
Meta says it favours posts a business filmed or made itself.
Why Facebook link posts get so few views, and the two-link limit
In Meta’s report, only about one Feed view in a hundred was a post with a link to another website. Meta says those views typically came from a Facebook Page the person followed.
Since December 2025, links have carried a second limit on some Pages. That month, Meta confirmed to TechCrunch that it was testing a limit on link posts for some Pages and for personal profiles set up for creators. Page managers in the test reported a cap of two links.
Meta launched its Meta One subscriptions on 15 September 2026. Since then, Social Media Today reports, more Page managers have seen a notice in the app limiting them to two link posts a month unless they pay. Publisher Pages, such as news outlets, are exempt. One of Meta One’s paid business plans lists “links in organic posts and reels” among its features. Meta does not say whether that covers Facebook link posts, and Social Media Today reads it as covering Instagram. Meta has made no announcement of the wider limit, and not every Page has it.
Link posts were already a small share of what people saw, so the limit changes less than it sounds. Put what the customer needs into the post itself: the price, the hours, what to bring and how to book. Then send people to your phone or your WhatsApp Business number, which works with no link at all.
Habits that cost your Facebook Page reach
- A bare link. A post that is only a link to your website or booking webpage carries both problems above: link posts get few views, and on some Pages each one uses up the monthly allowance. Write the details into the post.
- “Like and share to win.” Meta reduces the reach of posts that ask people to like, share, comment or tag. It makes an exception for a real call to action, such as finding a missing person or raising money. Meta says people find these posts spammy.
- Reposted flyers and other people’s clips. A flyer passed on from a supplier or another Page, or a video saved from another account, is what Meta calls unoriginal: a post the Page had no role in making. Meta shows those posts to fewer people.
What still reaches people from a Facebook Page in The Bahamas
Your own photos and short videos. Film the work, the place and the people on your phone. Fifteen seconds is enough to show a finished style, a plate leaving the kitchen or a boat loading up at the dock. Say in the caption what it is and how to book. The Nassau Guardian reported in June 2026 that a Nassau food business owner’s twists on Bahamian dishes went viral on social media and brought in new customers. In his words, “social media just brings an overall awareness.”
Your Page in the groups your customers use. In Meta’s US figures, groups carried about as many Feed views as followed Pages did. A Page can join a group and post, comment and react as the business, where the group allows it. Those posts appear as coming from the Page. Group admins decide whether Pages may take part, so read each group’s rules first. When someone asks for a salon, a caterer or a tour, answer the question they asked and add your number. Leave the advert out.
Replies to comments and messages. Answer every comment and message. Meta’s own advice is that Pages perform best when they interact with their followers. If your number on Facebook differs from the one on Google or your website, make your details match on every door before you post more.
A real Page also helps a careful buyer. In July 2025, the Consumer Protection Commission told Bahamian buyers to check that a seller has a business licence and a working phone number before paying. It said so after a Marketplace contractor who was paid more than $60,000 stopped answering calls and WhatsApp messages. A number that answers is what that check looks for. A Page with months of your own work on it also shows a careful buyer that the business is real.
A posting rhythm you can keep through the busy season
Meta names no number of posts a week. Our suggestion is a couple of posts a week, at a pace you can keep in December as well as in a slow month. A Facebook Page that stops posting also shows a visitor less, and one of the index’s checks on a Page is for a post in the 90 days before the reading.
Scheduling makes the pace possible. In Meta Business Suite, Meta’s app for running a Page, you can write posts on a slow day and set each one to publish up to 29 days ahead. Its Active times view suggests good times to publish.
Your busiest weeks are often the weeks the Page goes quiet. For a salon that is Christmas and the Junkanoo weeks. For a tour or retail business it is the high season. In the quiet week before your busy stretch, film and schedule the posts for the whole stretch at once. During the rush, your only Facebook job is answering messages.
Questions owners ask about this
Does Facebook hide business posts unless you pay?
In Meta’s published description, the Feed ranks every post by what each person is predicted to stop for, and Meta names no penalty for a Facebook Page that does not pay. Ads are placed in the Feed separately, after that ranking. One paid change does touch ordinary Page posts: links. Page managers report that some Pages are now limited to two link posts a month unless they pay for a Meta One plan. Meta has not announced this.
Should I put the link in the comments instead?
Meta said in December 2025 that links in comments were not affected by its test. Since Meta One launched on 15 September 2026, some Facebook Page managers report that links in comments are limited too, and Meta has made no announcement either way. The safer habit is a post that carries the price, the hours and your number, so it works with no link at all.
Your next step
Film your own work and schedule a week of posts
Pick your quietest day this week. Take five or six photos or short phone clips of real work: a cut you finished today, the lunch special, the view from this morning’s tour. Under each one, write a line or two that says what it is and how to book, with your phone or WhatsApp number in the post itself. Schedule them across the coming week in Meta Business Suite. Then answer each comment and message as it comes in. The first batch takes an evening if you already have the photos. After that it becomes a weekly habit.
