Google shows a shop’s listing to drivers whether or not the shop has claimed it. Only a claimed listing lets the shop correct the hours, add a photo, answer a review and see how many drivers tapped to call. Claiming is free and starts from the listing itself, and Google’s check takes days to a week or more.
Drivers find a shop on Google and send a photo of the fault on WhatsApp.
Required · 34 points
When a car will not start the driver searches for a shop nearby and calls from the Google result. With no Google Business Profile you are not there at the moment of need.
Recommended · 19 points
A website can set out services, credentials and pricing, though a driver in trouble tends to scan the reviews and call before reading any of it.
Optional · 13 points
Drivers look for a mechanic when something breaks, so a Facebook Page adds little to how customers find you here.
Required · 34 points
The driver who picked you from your Google Business Profile sends a photo of the fault here and gets a quote and a slot back. That is how the job gets arranged.
Required: central to how this industry’s customers find, trust and contact a business, so it carries the most points.
Recommended: useful, but customers can still find and contact the business through its other open doors.
Optional: this industry’s customers rarely use it to find or choose a business, so it carries the fewest points.
The points on the four cards add up to 100, the most any business can score in any industry.
Auto shops are ahead of the country on the Google Business Profile and WhatsApp, with more room on the website and Facebook Page.

A listing nobody at the shop has claimed is one nobody at the shop can correct, so the hours an assistant repeats are whatever the listing says. Google’s AI Mode works in The Bahamas, and Google names an up-to-date Business Profile among the basics that still matter for its AI answers. In a study of 600 US small businesses, Herringbone Digital found AI answers repeating the hours set on Google listings, including listings the business itself had set to “Open 24 hours”. When the hours are right, a driver’s next step can be a message, and auto shops publish a WhatsApp number more often than the country.

How to check what ChatGPT and Google’s AI say about your business
Most auto shops already have a Google Business Profile, so claim it first, then open WhatsApp.
Required
Drivers find you here. A search for a mechanic nearby shows your hours, contact number and reviews.
Short to start, days to a week or more for Google’s check, an evening to fill in
List each service, such as brakes or an oil change, where Google offers services for your category. Keep the hours right, holidays included. Ask every driver for a review and answer each one. Once a month, read its count of calls and direction requests.
Required
Drivers talk to you here. A photo of the warning light or the damage gets a first quote, and “your car is ready” goes out when the job is done.
Short to register, an evening or more to set up
Write a quick reply asking for the photo, the make and the year. Put the WhatsApp link on your website and your Facebook Page. Put the shop’s name beside the number everywhere. Sort chats into lists, such as quotes sent and cars ready.
Recommended
This is the one door you own. Services and starting prices sit here, and for a car-rental business, the booking and payment webpage.
A few evenings with a builder, weeks with a professional
Put the WhatsApp link and a call button on every webpage. Keep hours and prices the same as on your Google Business Profile. Check every few months that it loads on a phone with the padlock.
Optional
A Facebook Page does little of the finding for an auto shop, but posts of finished jobs reach drivers who were not looking for a garage today.
An evening if the photos are to hand, longer from nothing
Post finished jobs often, a before-and-after where it shows, with the WhatsApp number in the post. Add the WhatsApp button so a quote can start there. Answer messages daily. Read Meta Business Suite monthly.
Open doors need a weekly habit: the same hours, prices and contact number on every door, and every message answered. A driver can find you on your Google Business Profile, send the photo in WhatsApp Business and check the prices on your website. Your WhatsApp chats show which faults keep coming in and how many quotes become jobs.
